Every summer, international journalists come to London to attend Thomson Foundation’s digital and multimedia course. The result is a unique community that now extends to hundreds of journalists worldwide, all with cutting-edge skills in different media.

Prizes:

Participation in Thomson Foundation’s digital and multimedia summer course.

– A five-week long intensive training programme in London (from 6th August to 7th September, 2018)

– A week’s work experience in a UK media organization.

2. The HiiL Justice Innovating Justice Challenge 2018

Deadline: 1st May 2018

The HiiL Justice Accelerator is focused on finding and supporting innovations that create rights awareness, provide resolution of disputes and legal problems or improve efficiency and transparency in the existing legal system.

Prizes:

•Invitation to pitch at local Boostcamp

– Johannesburg, Lagos, Nairobi, Kampala, Kyiv, and The Hague.

•Between 15-20 Start-Ups will be selected for the acceleration program.

3. FRIDA Young Feminists Fund 

Deadline:

FRIDA grants are given to organizations and groups that are dedicated to:
Improving the lives of young women/trans* and intersex youth at local, national, regional or international levels, Inclusive organizing, Collective action and feminist movement building.
Grantee organizations that FRIDA supports are led by young women and/or trans* and intersex* youth, under the age of 30. At least 70% of your organization’s membership needs to be people under 30 and the leadership in the group needs to be young women and/or trans* and intersex youth under 30.

Prizes: 

You can apply for a grant up to $5,000 USD. Grant money is flexible, it can be used over a period of 12 months for general support and/or projects, and are open to renewal.

4.  The Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies

Deadline: 31st March 2018

The University of Ghana, Legon, is pleased to invite applications for the position of Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies, to begin August 1, 2018.
The Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies was established at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana in honour of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Pan African luminary and Ghana’s first president, for his contributions to the intellectual life of the African World, and for his projection of Africa on the world stage.

Prizes:

Salary will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant but will typically be at the level of Professor (disclosure upon short listing). The Chair will also be provided with:

-Return business class ticket or equivalent from his/her location to Accra.
-Airport pick up.
-Office accommodation including a computer, printer, internet access and necessary office materials.
-A Research Assistant and/or other support staff.
-Accommodation and medical insurance.
-A research grant.

5Visa For Music 2018

Deadline: 15 April 2018

VFM is calling on artists to apply for the music meeting in Rabat, Morocco, from 21 to 24 November.

Prizes:

-Hotel expenses in twin rooms for two nights maximum including breakfast for international bands and twin rooms for one night maximum including breakfast for bands from Morocco.
-Local transport costs.
-Meals (for a maximum of three days).
-Passes allowing access to all concerts and activities VFM.
-Artists will be featured on the VFM official catalogue and website.
-For each selected band, VFM will award one VIP pass to one person representing the band.
